XP: Ding Dong Ding!

Or is that "Bing, Bong, Bing"??

So ... I'm trying to think of the name of the instrument (?) that hotel bellboys used to signify something special.  In The Women its used in the department store (scene) to announce closing.  It's sort of like a hand-held xylophone.
Eeeek!  What is it?

Do you have a picture or sound byte?  What some people think of as a xylophone isn't exactly a xylophone so I'm having a hard time picturing it and I haven't seen that movie.  Sorry!

"Bells" look like a hand-held xylophone:

If you google "band bells" or "marching band bells" you can get more info.  Not sure if that is the instrument you mean?
