Wedding Ceremony & Reception Music Discussions

never use Premier Music Source for your wedding dj!

they switched my dj the day before my wedding -
the dj emailed me the NIGHT BEFORE MY WEDDING to ask me to email him 'hard to find songs' without specifying which ones
i spent all morning the day of my wedding emailing him music.
one of the hard to find songs was apparently Dean Martin's song, "Ain't that a Kick in the Head" which we had wanted for our entrance - he played something else...
before we got to the reception, he had been torturing my parents with justin timberlake when my playlist, which i had created on their website, specifically listed songs by frank sinatra, dean martin, etc.

in short this dj ruined a huge part of my wedding, they refused to refund any of it, and most of the reception was played off of MY IPOD.

there are not enough words for me to describe how angry i get all over again when i think about this. be warned brides! if you love music, be very careful about your dj and do not use premier music source!!!

Post this on a local LA area board.  I'm in NJ and honestly, don't care about LA area DJs.  But people in the LA area might want to  know about your experience.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146

I wish I saw this before I booked them.  I feel for you I had the same experience.  This is an email I just sent them:

Steve,I just left a long voice mail; and I will follow up here.I just came home from my husband's party, that I worked so hard on planning for months. It's too bad the evening was ruined because of the DJ services. You told me on the phone you would be the DJ at my event. At 4:00pm on the evening of my event, you sent me an email (not even a phone call) with a different DJ's name. This is 2 and 1/2 hours before my party. I hadn't planned on checking my email so late in the day. Regardless, I wouldn't have minded so much if the DJ was good. Not only did the DJ have no personality, but he could not even mix records. When I introduced myself to the DJ, I asked him if he had my playlist; and he said yes. About a half hour later, when I didn't hear any songs from my playlist, I asked him again adding "because I'm not hearing any of the songs on my playlist". He just nodded his head. Finally, after dinner when he continued to play crap music, I asked him what was going on. I said that I thought the person I talked to on the phone was going to be my DJ. He said that you are located in Colorado and found him on Craigslist. He said you never game him a playlist. So, what was the point of me having my own "client area" where I could pick out music? I spent hours picking out songs so that people would be sure to have a good time dancing. Instead, people danced to maybe one or two songs and then started leaving early. We all kept looking at each other like "what is up with this guy"? It seemed like it was the first time he had ever worked as a DJ.There are so many DJ's I could have used. What appealed to me was the ability to choose songs online. It seemed foolproof. You really advertise a good game. I feel like I've been taken for a ride.I am demanding to be refunded for every penny I paid. I did not receive the product that was promised to me. Unfortunately, a refund cannot go back in time and make the night a success, but it is the least you can do.I you refuse to refund my money, I will go through the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General's Office. Please contact me tomorrow.

Sorry you had such a problem!  I had the same problem as well.  I hired Premier for my parents' 50th anniversary.  Steve told me he was the DJ and then I got a phone call 4 hours before the party from some other guy.  My mother and I had chosen songs on their website, very few of which actually got played.  I kept having to try to redirect the DJ, who started playing gangster rap.  He appeared to not have much other music, and certainly not the songs we had requested.  The DJ later told me that he was hired 2 days before the party, he was told it was a graduation party, and he was not given our playlists.  I have tried to contact premier, and they have just ignored me.  I can't agree with you enough - Don't use this business!

Wow ok guys we need to get together and sue these b*stards they didnt even show up to our wedding dance and they still havent gave us a refund.

I cried last weekend because I heard a bunch of songs that were on our playlist as well. Premier Music Source ruined our wedding reception and dance. I get angry thinking about that night as well. How can you not show up...

I read reviews and none of them said things like this, so I am very pissed that I let them ruin the best day of my life.

We are taking them to court over the whole deal.

I'm so sorry for all of your issues...which seem to be a trend!!  I had Steve also tell me he woudl be my DJ for our reception, and was also notified from another DJ 2 days prior to my event.  I was told for 2 weeks, I would get a call from my DJ so that we could discuss details.  I had to iron out all of the last minute details with the new DJ the night of my rehearsal!  In addition, I was double charged for the services and after multiple phone calls to Premeir and nothing getting accomplished, I finally contacted my credit card company to dispute it for me.
Furthermore, when my DJ showed up to the event, he was dressed inappropriately, was about 75 yrs old, and had TERRIBLE equipment.  You could barely here the music in our venue.  He did not stick to the palylist.  It was terribly upsetting and put a HUGE damper on our reception.

I also had booked a photographer and videographer for the event through Premeir due to their competitive prices.  Well - YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR in this case.  I also received both of their contact info the day prior and both of them had been told that it was a "party", not a "wedding reception".  My photos are less than a professional wedding photographer would do, but they will suffice.  My videograper, was friendly, but the end product was 4 different DVD with different clips, nothing uniform or capable of clicking on a chapter to go straight to a particular part of the evening!

Needless to say - I WAS TERRIBLY DISAPPOINTED in all of my services with this company and would NEVER recommend this company.  I truly feel as if they are scam artists!!!!!!!

  •  I RECENTLY HAD BEEN RECRUITED BY PREMIER MUSIC SOURCE TO PROVIDE MUSIC FOR A WEDDING RECEPTION. MY COMPANY PROVIDED 8 HOURS OF ENTERTAINMENT FULFILLING OUR PART OF A SIGNED CONTRACT WITH PREMIER.

THE CHECK PREMIER MUSIC USED TO PAY US HAS BOUNCED TWICE. IT HAS BEEN OVER A MONTH AND I AM STILL TRYING TO COLLECT MY PAYMENT. DESPITE DAILY ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT PREMIER MUSIC, THEY HAVE NEVER RETURNED MY CALLS, EMAILS OR TEXTS.  NOW I HAVE TO PURSUE THIS MATTER LEGALLY THROUGH THE COURTS.

DO NOT WORK WITH PREMIER MUSIC...THEY ARE A SCAM!!!!!!!!
  • I have done 3 jobs for this shady company and all 3 times there was a problem. First they upset the clients so bad they were harassing me and threatening me because I refused to release the rights to my photos before getting paid overtime. Then the next time they never sent me the client's address to send out their DVD, I ended up dropping it off personally so they'd get their photos in time, I still hadn't been paid by them but the check did come in the mail. They always treated me pretty well after I told them about the first clients threatening my life because they gave them MY FULL NAME AND PERSONAL INFO. The final time was actually pretty smooth for the client considering how terrible their customer service had been but it took me 4 months to finally get paid!!! AND THEY NEVER PAID ME THE FULL AMOUNT, just a partial BS paypal payment!!!
  • I am a DJ that was contracted to do an event for Tough Mudder and Steve has yet to pay the balance owed! I'm looking in to opening a court case if any DJ wants to join in. Also any DJ that wants to do stuff for a similar company let me know. I am starting one like premier however I will pay and I will be able to be spoken to on the phone 24/7. You don't make customers happy by sending out bad djs or waiting till the last minute to send out info on the event.
