Dance Lessons- how many?

I wasn't sure where to post this- but my fiance and I are not good dancers at all.  We've actually never really slow danced together.  I want to take dance lessons and can't decide between 3 group lessons or 2 private.  Due to scheduling conflicts and craziness at work, that is pretty much all we'll have time & energy for.

Is this enough?  Is one preferable to another?

Thanks :)

I would probably go with the private lessons, so that you can have the instructor's undivided attention to help you move naturally together.

  • I agree. One on One time is much better, especially if yall have never slow-danced with each other prior to this. I was an instructor once, sometimes group lessons can get overly crowded and you can't help everyone. If you're still unsure, ask your instructor how many people generally attend the group lessons and what his/her recommendation is. If less than 10 couples participate or he/she has an assistant instructor, then you two should be fine.

  • I would definately do the private lessons - that's what we're doing. We're learning a simple two-step for our first dance. Having private lessons may be a bit more expensive, but you'll need that one-on-one time with each other. Plus you won't be distracted by other people such as if you were in a group setting.

As far as how many, I think my FI and I are going to have about 3 (since they are pricey but worth it!) We're not doing any choreography, just learning the simple basic steps :)
