Wedding Ceremony & Reception Music Discussions

Basing the wedding/reception around a song?

I'm planning a wedding with a "shooting the moon" theme, as in "shoot for the moon, even if you miss, you'll land among the stars".  I want my fiance and I to dance to OK GO's "Shooting The Moon".  I don't want people to think EVEYTHING about the song is supposed to relate to us, because it's actually about a guy that said he did all these awesome things, but he didn't.  Do you guys think it's an inappropriate first dance song/wedding theme?

You can have moon & stars themed reception and many people will not realize it is about the song.  There are numerous moon songs that can be added to the reception music (Fly me to the moon, Moondance etc) that can obscure the Shoot the moon as the inspiration.

Many people won't know the inspiration unless you tell them.  If you and FH like moon and stars..then go for it and enjoy the day.
