DJ under $2000

I think the median price for DJs is between 600-1500 -- I actually haven't heard of many DJs above $1500, so most of those on that list should fit in your budget. I know most of the girls here LOVE Melody of Melody & Memories (on the lower side of that price range), and Glenn Roush (on the higher side of the range -- might be closer to 2k but not sure).

Both of those DJs, and a lot of others frequently mentioned on this board, will kind of MC the evening, keep things going smoothly through the night, etc. Never heard anything but awesome things about those two!

I LOVED my DJ, Glenn Roush.  He was $1500 for a Saturday wedding in 2009 but not sure what he is now.  He was worth every penny.

BTW--Glenn has started a new company that is on the same pricepoint as Melodies & Memories.  You don't get Glenn as your MC for that pricing, but I would highly recommend anything he is associated with.  I can't remember the name of the new company (big fail on my part), but I think someone here is using them.

I love love LOVE Melody! I've work with Glenn too, in a NWR related sense and he's super cool. I think either would be a great choice.

Good heavens!  I know the one I originally wanted was $3K (Tommy Evans with Specialty Sounds).  So yeah, they definitely exist.

I remember one Knottie had Michael Blake from KISS FM for $2K.  Colby Lewis with Astounding Sounds is another good one.

When I talked to Glenn (I think this was in September of 2010), he was asking for $2000 for a Saturday wedding. I really like him, but I liked Stephen James better. He was $1800 and also does a flat rate (meaning all night) and his wife acts as a day-of coordinator, so I felt like I was getting a 2-for-1 deal out of it. 

I've also heard good things about Ambience. The DJ's name is Jaime, but he is also in the higher ranges 2-3K.

I'm using Melody and Memories.  I think for my ceremony and reception it will be $750ish for a Friday night.  She was incredibly nice and professional on the phone but at the same time you could tell she's just a very fun person.  I am SO excited to have her for our wedding! 

I will say I also tried to get a price quote from DJ Connections (they were on the preferred vendors list for my venue).  I asked if they could e-mail me some info regarding their pricing and such as its VERY difficult for me to answer phone calls during the day, but e-mails are easy.  Either they didn't read or didn't care -- have had a phone call at least every other day for the last two weeks.

I recently contacted Glenn Roush just because I saw his name on the vendor list and I knew him in college and had totally forgotten he became a DJ. I didn't know him well, but remember he was pretty well-liked and had a DJish personality (in a good way). I'm getting married on a Sunday evening and he quoted me a flat-rate of $1000. He did say that was a price for a Sunday, so I'm sure it's higher for Saturday.

DJ Connection has been calling me incessantly for about three weeks now (another vendor told them I was looking for a DJ). I've had two friends who used them, one who loved them and one who hated them (they sent a different DJ than she had met/planned with). 

Melody from Melodies and Memories called me in response to an email I sent and she sounded really nice. If her price is right, I'll probably go with her.

Melody and Lori were great from the first time I spoke with them. I decided to book a DJ about two weeks before the wedding and M&M came to the rescue. They were beyond affordable, Lori was so great, she was the DJ, the emcee, the coordinator, a guest, a friend, everything that a great DJ should be. She played everything we asked (and threw in some we didn't ask for, but later we found out those songs were requests from the guests). I highly recommend this company for your wedding!
