March 2013 Weddings

Am I nuts?

We just got engaged last week, and have decided to try to have our ceremony on March 23rd ... and he already knew in advance that I was determined it would be an outdoor ceremony.  We live in MD, so I'm hoping that the end of March will be warming up and not get a blizzard!  Any one else planning an outdoor ceremony where the weather can be iffy?  We just never know if it will be 80 degrees.. or 20!  So many decisions to make.. and not much time!!  Am I nuts to still want it outdoors?

Re: Am I nuts?

  • I considered it momentarily but I live in MN so even more unpredictable! If you think the weather will be ok enough I'd go for it but definitely make sure you have a back up plan in case it's too cold, rainy, snowy, etc.

  • I just moved from DC and I'm from Pittsburgh- so I know what you mean about the weather. Personally I would not risk having an outdoor ceremony in March... at its best, the weather is maybe 50(ish) degrees at that time and if you aren't that lucky, it could rain or snow. Guests could be comfortable with some sort of coat or sweater for an hour-long ceremony, but in my family, the old people would not like being outside. haha. Not trying to be a downer, but just some things to consider.

Like Jennipea said, if you do decide to have an outdoor ceremony, make sure to have it at a location that also has an indoor option in case the weather takes a turn for the worse. Good luck! :)

[QUOTE]Well my SIL had her ceremony outdoors Dec 2nd at the North Shore, I'd say whatever you do just be prepared! They had a fast ceremony and it was right outside from the reception so everyone went out right before. Good luck! I know choosing a date is really the hardest part!

Oh wow, that would be cold! I know the Duluth area can stay slightly warmer than the rest of the state because of the regulation from the lake but still.. haha.
