DIY Invitations?

Anybody making their own invitation or STDs?  I'm an avid scrapbooker and am seriously considering it.

Re: DIY Invitations?

  • Technically I suppose we are making our own invites. However, what is really happening is that our friend who went to school for fine art and work creating invites for years is custom designing ours. I would say go for it, however it has also been a very big undertaking so far so be aware.

  • We made our own save the dates and save the date magnets. We sent them out in June and everybody loved them. They thought they were really nice it was really cool that we made them ourselves. We decided to buy our invites from David' Bridal. They have round invites with a lace pattern that came in all our wedding colors and were under budget, so we fell in love with them.

Janna, how wonderful to have friends with skills, huh?! <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" />  We only need about 20 invites and we aren't doing STDs, so that's the only reason I'm considering it. If I had more than that, I'd probably not bother! LOL

    Julie,
I found a great post on Pinterest for DIY invitations and I think I'm going to try them.  Here is the website.  We only have about 50 or so to do, so I'm thinking this will still be cute but easy.  Hopefully!

  • We are doing ours with the "help" of a paper store in Minneapolis. Bascially they give us the supplies and use their die cuts for the main part of it, then we cut, glue and print however we want. We might print ourselves or go to Kinko's or something, haven't decided yet. Here is what mine will tentatively look like:

  • I am making my own.  I brought a kit from Michaels and am printing them up myself.  It works best if you have time and patience.  I am planning on doing most of the items before we confirm the details with the catering hall.  I will probably have the response card, response envelops and the addressed envelops done by middle of Aug.

Really nice, Jennipea!  I am loving these tri-folded invites with the inserts!  Like I told Beachy, I wish I had some inserts to justify getting them!

It's Paper Depot, though I think there are some other places that are similar around there. I haven't heard of The Paper Source, I should check them out!

  • Made our own Save the Date's today!  We're doing a beach wedding so went to the beach and wrote in the sand.  We are photography hobbiests, so we took the picture and then did the things we needed to here on our computer and then sent it to a local printing company to make postcards.  They were only $25 for 100 postcards!  LOVED IT!

  • Your STD are adorable!! Love them, Beachy!!
