Re: Flowers

  • I am getting married this June. I will have purple dahlias along with other flowers and herbs in my bouquet. I believe dahlias are in season for the summer but not sure about spring.

I will say I am spending loads more on my florist than I would have thought because I heard herbs are cheap and I am using flowers that are in season.

I am having an evening wedding so the bistro lighting is 500 alone. All together I am spending nearly 2000 on the wedding with tax included. (just on the florist)

  • We are trying to figure out flowers now as well. I'm still a little in shock about how much everything cost. I've always wanted gerber daisies. They just make me happy. Luckly they are cheap and available all year round and in every color. Simple and fun, that's what I'm going for.

So far this is what I've learned.... When you meet with a florist, be honest about what you can afford and look for someone who understands what vision you are going for. The first florist we met with was way over the top (and way over budget) didn't feel right at all. (but I'm sure she would have been very professional.) The second florist and likely who we will use, was a bit more rough around the edges but was very honest and helpful.

  • We are having many different lilac, pink, blue, and ivory flowers, but the bouquets will mainly be hydrangeas, roses, and gerber daisies. We booked our florist in January for our 3/30/13 wedding. We got a great deal. We get my bridal bouquet, a toss bouquet, a maid of honor bouquet, 2 bridesmaids bouquets, 4 bouts, 4 corsages, 16 centerpieces, delivery, and set up for 540. We are having potted plants in the centerpieces, so it saves money and we can plant them at home.

  • I have no clue yet. I want something with orange in it, but I'm not finding what I want, and it's hard to communicate well with a florist in Nevada! I'm hoping to find flowers on pinterest that I love and can just send her a photo to go by.

  • I am meeting with a florist next week. My girls are wearing navy so I am thinking some bright flower colors like oranges and pinks. I am excited! As for the centerpieces, I know I want high ones on the table but that is all I know so far.
  • I'm not doing real flowers :-) For me personally, they're not worth it, but if I had the money for it, I'd totally get some nice hibuscus flowers! But for my fake flowers, I plan on having daisies. They're my favorite flower (well, second favorite, my real love is hibiscus), my mom's favorite flower, and my sorority's flower.

  • Try the deep purple-ish blue hydrangeas! They are beautiful and in season in March! I'm using pink and white hydrangeas & roses, or maybe some peonies, which are all in season so I've been told.
