Cover Photographer's Spouses Travel Expenses?

I'm completely clueless when it comes destination wedding/vendor etiquette--is it normal for a photographer to ask you to cover their travel expenses along with the travel expenses of their spouse? Is it also normal for them to have a minimum nights stay requirement?

is the spouse acting as the assistant during the wedding? if not it just sounds like they're trying to make a vacation out of it.
it is normal for destination weddings to cover travel for the photographer and the assistant/associate. I am not sure about the minimum nights stay part though. How many nights are they stating as the "minimum"?

From what I gathered, her husband is not her assistant, he's just coming along for the ride I guess. ;-) Her minimum night stay was 3 nights, which really wasn't a big deal to me. It was just moreso that she wanted us to pay for her husband's vacation.

Great question. I agree with julianribinik.
I guess it depends on the location. Out of state? Two nights should suffice. Three seems ecessive. I would NEVER ask to cover my husband's expenses on a travel shoot - unless he was assisting or second shooting. Dont' let photographers take advantage of you. Your wedding is a job, not a vacation. Proceed with caution.

I would say two nights and not cover the spouse.  I can imagine them getting there the day before and leaving the day after but unless they have something that you are requiring them to do 2 days prior, I don't see why you should have to pay.
