Bridal portrait????

Is it really that big of a deal to do or not do a bridal portrait? I don't know what it entails so I don't know whether I need to find a place in my budget for it. Please help!!!

I don't have any intention of having one...they're actually really rare in my area and I'd never even heard of them before TheKnot.  From what I understand, it's just pictures of the bride in her dress before the wedding...I figure I'll get enough pictures of me at the wedding itself
