before or after

Anyone have any pros or cons on having the wedding photos done before the ceremony?

We are getting married at a Church that does not have a lot of places outside for photos and the reception is at a hotel with the same issue.  My Mom suggested that we get the photos done at a local park that is a few miles away from the church.  If we do that we would need to Have them done before the wedding due to time constraints.

We did all our photos before the ceremony (we shot for over four hours), and I'm so glad we did. H and I both hate gaps between the ceremony and reception, so this way, we were able to avoid that issue entirely. We were able to attend our reception in its entirety, which was fabulous.

I would definitely recommend doing pictures first if time allows. Our ceremony was at 4:30, and we got hair and make-up done at 9 AM to make certain we had plenty of time.

Ditto PP. In your situation I would do them before the ceremony. You would have a great opportunity for "reveal shots" between you and your FI.
