Photographer prices...

I found a photographer that I really like and think she will take amazing pictures but I'm really not sure about her price. Our total wedding budget is $8,000 and we are paying for everything ourselves. She quoted me $800 for 10 hours. I will only need her for, at the most, 7 hours. I was really tying to keep this part of the budget down, because I want a photobooth at the reception. Does this sound like a good price?
TIA!

Photographer cost varies drastically in different areas of the country.

That said, H is a photographer, and we know photographers all over the place, and $800 for 10 hours sounds like an incredible price regardess of location.

Better the photogrpaher is more expensive he is. And if you have good quality products etc it's normal. Don't ask if she's pricey or not, just ask yourself if you love her work or not. If yes, so go for her

I was also going to say photography costs vary based on geographical location but $800 for 10 hours is awesome.

We are going to have to pay more than that for only 4 or 5 hours.

they typically say that you should spend 10-15% of your total wedding budget on photography. so sound like it's right on. and i don't personally agree with a PP that said the better a photographer is the more expensive they are. while in theory that is true. there are A LOT of over priced photographers around. the average photographer i've seen in my neck of the woods is about $2500-$3500.

Thanks everyone! I was going to go with them but FI said that it was too much to spend on pictures. I found another up and coming photographer to use, that was a little cheaper.

That was about our budget too, but ended up spending $2000 for 5 hours and a cd release.  But completely worth it considering that having an amazing photographer was where I was willing to spend the most money.  I personally thought my photographer was a good investment for pictures I would keep as a memory for the rest of my life. BUT everyone is different and willing to spend different amounts.
