Photos for family & wedding party?

My soon to be step-father-in-law asked how many pictures I was planning on giving to our family and friends after the wedding. He was appalled when I told him I wasn't planning to do that. Is there some sort of protocol for this?

You can surprise them all with a great new idea. I used www.WeddingSnap.com at my cousin's wedding last month and I really loved the idea. It automatically gathers all the guests' photos in one place. Price is very decent.
