Meet with Photographer Prior to Booking?

I am speaking with a couple different photographers via email at the moment.  I don't really know what the "typical" next step is...  Do you usually meet with a couple photographers before booking? (To see if you click w/ them) Or have you ladies just stuck with email and phone conversations to determine if you wanted to book w/ someone?

Thanks in advance!

It's very typical to actually meet the photographer, at least here in Michigan.  See how they act/react in person...  If you're planning on ordering an album or other finished product it would also be nice to see the samples in person.

I've heard of people booking photographers w/o meeting them, but I'm a professional photographer and only about 1 out of 30 have booked me with out actually sitting down with me first.

I suppose it's all what you feel comforatble with, me personally, I'd like to see the work and meet the person.  If however you're booking through a company or studio and will not meet the actual photographer, then it's not as important to meet face to face.

    Best wishes,
    Don

My FI and I met with a couple of photographers prior to booking ours.  We really wanted to have the feel of the chemistry, and also wanted someone who can take initiative.  We have a small but strong wedding party..and we need someone to really rally up the troops!!!!

Yes definitely meet with several.  You will be spending alot of time with your photographer on your wedding day and it's important that you click with them.

You should definitely meet with at least 2 or 3, so that you have something to compare them to. Meeting with your potential photographer is important since you really need to mesh well with their personality since you will be spending so much time with them on your wedding day. It will reflect in your pictures if you dislike or are annoyed by your photographer.
