Engagement photos

For some reason I am so nervous to take engagement photos. Everytime I see a set of these, the couple is laughing at one another or kissing and being intimate and cute..That is simply not stuff we do in public. It's not in our personalities to jokingly feed each other strawberries under a tree in some faux picnic shoot. Don't get me wrong, we are affectionate but I don't know how seriously I can take these photos with some stranger shooting them. My only other photographer friend moved to Hawaii (boo!). Have any of you ladies had this issue and found a solution?

Re: Engagement photos

  • It really depends on the studio but you SHOULD feel comfortable in front of the camera regardless of whether or not that person is a stranger. Photographers are supposed to be good at elevating peoples spirits and bringing out the best in them.

If you are having anxiety, make pretend you are alone in your own element and enjoy your time with one another and have someone capture that.
  • I completely understand!! My FI & I are not that way either!!! Our Engagement Pictures were cute without being "overly affectionate" which suits some couples just fine, but we like our private intimate time just to ourselves! Our pictures consisted of us just walking around a cornmaze (I love fall, so we went for a really cute corn maze & hayride theme engagement pictures) and then there were some where we just were holding hands, then we sat on the hay bales & were hanging out and laughing because he was joking around. If you see below, I put all of our pictures, there was only one picture of us kissing, and I didn't think it was too much at all. :) I hope that helps!!

  • Ideally you will find a photographer with photos that look relatable to you. Additionally, the photographer should be in communications with you, and plan a session that makes you feel comfortable and captures your relationship in a way that makes you happy, rather than trying to fit you into those cookie-cutter-kissing-in-every-photo sessions.
