Photo Editing

So I got married on July 31, and it was a great day, but looking back at all the pictures I realize how much I absolutely HATE my hair-do for the day.  I wasn't crazy about it then, but there was no time to do anything about it, and quite honestly I don't know what my hairdresser was thinking.  I asked for loose, messy and casual, and I got sleek, tight updo.  Everyone else managed to get the look that I wanted, but it was too late to do anything about it.  So, I am left with not a single picture of me that I like from my wedding day.

I was wondering if anyone out there knew of a good, reasonably priced photo editing service or software.  I asked my photographer what she could do and she said she didn't do edits like that because she felt it made the pictures look fake.

I put in a picture so you can get the idea of what I want done... Notice the "volume" aka snooki bump (that I didn't want) is lopsided, the side with the flower is lower then the rest.  And, I have a HUGE bump on either side of my head!  Not to mention the bald spot that was created on the side with the flower when she braided my bangs into the monstrousity.  Any help would be greatly GREATLY appreciated!

First: In my opinion, you look beautiful, and very happy. You don't *need* to change anything. That being said, there are maybe three photos of me in existence taken since 1995. So I get where you're coming from.

Second: I kind of agree with the photographer here. Unless you're willing to shell out a LOT of money, it will look fakish. The guys who do magazines can get paid hundreds of dollars an hour to do what they do. Simply dropping in another hairstyle (which seems to be what you are hinting that you want) isn't going to turn out well. You have to match lighting and angle and size and a whole big bunch of other things.

If I was in your spot, here's what I'd do. I'd stop looking at the hair and start looking at how stunning your eyes look in that shot. That gorgeous grin. Talk to your photographer about ways to de-emphasize the hair and instead emphasize other aspects, to draw attention away from what you don't like, and towards what you do. Most photographers can do a LOT with that kind of "photoshopping," as it keeps the basic integrity of the shot intact, rather than trying to drop in something inorganic. Were I the photographer, I'd do things like sharpening around the eyes, warming up the colours, applying a (TINY) bit of soft blur around the hair to make it seem not so tightly wound. There's more than one way to skin a cat, and in photography it's *so* easy to hyperfocus on one detail about ourselves we don't like, and ignore everything else that's so wonderful.

Be careful about doing something like this....the pictures legally are property of the Photographer and she owns the copy write to those immages....Which basically means you can't make ANY changes to them unless the photographer ok's it.  If she's ok with you changing her work get it in writing with her signature.  A lot of photography places won't even print professional pictures, let alone make changes,  unless there is a copy write release from the photographer.
