Is a second videographer necessary?

I'm having a hard time deciding on a videographer in northern NJ...mainly because the packages are so different from one company to another! My easiest decision so far was picking the venue! One thing I can't seem to decide on is whether I should get a second videographer/cinematographer. Some packages include them just for the ceremony but is that even necessary? We are trying to be as budget conscious as possible since every little thing adds up. I'm sure this question has been asked before, but thank you in advance for any feedback you guys have! Happy Friday!

  • Not necessary at all, although the "just for the ceremony" add-on may be worth it because then one videographer can be focused on filming from your FI's perspective while the other can film with you.  For the rest of the reception/pre-wedding stuff, you definitely don't need a second shooter, and really, you could get away with only one for the ceremony as well if it will save you a good amount of money.

  • We're just having one. Photography/videography is so expensive I couldn't even think about having 2

  • Thank you for the feedback! I was strongly leaning towards having a second one, but I think one should be fine (our wedding isn't going to be huge, only 125 people). I was just torn because I really want to get bride/groom prep, so I'll see if something can be worked out with one videographer. Plus a second person means another vendor meal to add on to the bill!

  • FI and I got ready in different room in the same hotel, so we just asked our videographer to split the prep time between us instead of spending the whole time with just me, and he was fine with it. As long as you aren't getting ready too far apart, the videographer should be willing to split the time up to capture both of you.

  • You can never capture enough memories. That's all you have after the rices has been thrown! Splurge on video/photography in my opinion!
  • My FI and I are paying for two photographers and two videographers. It's not necessary but it's something we want and we're paying for it. You don't need a second videographer.
  • For a small wedding on a budget it should not be necessary at all. Good luck!
