Deposit to Photographer

Our photographer wants 50% down upon signing the contract.  Is this normal?  It seems like a lot.  Thanks in advance for any help!

I require 25%, but maybe see if they will take 3 payments so that you are more confortable. Tats what I do!

I think it is a lot.

You should talk to him, in this economy I believe he will take 25%.

Thats pretty standard around here (Atlanta). The photographer i'm looking at asks for 35% up front, then 2 additional payments before the wedding.

Our photographer requires a 50% or 25% deposit, whichever you want to pay. Naturally, if you pay the 50% deposit you won't have as big of a balance to pay right before your wedding. I'd see if the photog would allow a smaller deposit and also ask if you could make payments.

Ours is only asking for 20%. 50% sounds like a lot.

50% is standard, that's what our studio charges, but most photographers will work with you, you are putting deposits down for everything at once usually so some are empathetic to that
