How do I fire my photographer?

I hired a photographer for my wedding this fall. I went to high school with her and she's been a photographer for a while now. She is just starting to do weddings, and I thought she was good, so I got her for a GREAT price. However, I'm starting to have second thoughts. I've seen other weddings she's done and I'm just not wowed by her photos. They're good. Not great.

I have not signed a contract with her or anything. I asked her to be my photographer and she agreed - that was it. I thought it was weird that she wouldn't send a contract, but I didn't think much about it. I've been trying to schedule a meeting with her for the past week and she's terrible about emailing me back.

Anyhow, I have decided to go with someone else. How do I tell my current photographer that I will no longer need her?

    Hey, girly!

That's never any fun. Coming from a wedding photographer (and bride) myself, here is what I would say.

    "Dear, __________

Thank you so much for being willing to photograph our wedding. We truly appreciate it! We wanted to let you know that we have decided to work with another photographer for our event. We know that you are just starting to photograph weddings and we can't wait to see where that takes you. However, we really feel like we would like to work with a seasoned professional for such an important event.

    We hope you understand.

    Love, _______________"

    I hope that helps you.

Invite her to the wedding and say you'd rather have her have fun than have to work ;)
