silent vs musical slideshow

I've always, ALWAYS wanted a slideshow at my wedding. The only thing is finding the timing to do it. We are very pressured for the timing of our wedding. We are having our ceremony at 7:00 in the evening, and are having the reception at the church as well (our church is huge). We will most likely need to be out by midnight (including cleanup). That being said, we are debating a silent slideshow vs one with music.
FH doesn't think anyone will pay attention to it if there is no music, that it will just be "background".
I'm planning for a 10 minute slideshow (probably will be a little less).
Another alternative is setting pictures up in frames around the room, but I don't want to have to resort to this.
Opinions, thoughts?
Thanks in advance!Smile

Re: silent vs musical slideshow

  • What would the slideshow be of? I wouldn't want to be forced to watch a slideshow during a wedding, honestly. I'd rather be catching up with folks I haven't seen in a while or eating or dancing. Are you having a cocktail hour? I'd either have it play then, or during dinner, so that people can watch if they want but aren't being kept from other things.

Another option is to have one of those digital photo frames loaded with all the pictures, and put it next to the guestbook or at the bar (or have 2 or 3 across the room).
  • Personally I love slideshows but have seen them go really unnoticed at weddings, especially when there is alcohol involved. If you would like to do a side-show might I suggest showing it at the rehearsal dinner. The rehearsal dinner involves a much more intimate group of friends and family and since timing was an issue at the actual wedding reception, you would not feel so rushed. It also sets the tone for a day of love and celebration going into the wedding.

If you need suggestions on side-shows I make many of mine on Animoto (www.animoto.com) you can select the pictures you want and upload your favorite music. In a few minutes you have a professional looking

    Best of luck planning.
