Length of video??

I found a fantastic videographer.... but he will not give the raw footage of the day. He edits it all down to a 3-4 highlight video and an additional 20 minute video. Hm. I'm not sure how I feel about this! Other videographers that have caught my eye AND give footage for the full day are way too pricey. HELP!

My fiance thinks 20 minutes is plenty. When we watch other videos online (about 15 min long) they seem to get everything we would want. Maybe that's all we would need/want? I'm happy to just have a well-edited video in the first place.

Am I being too picky? Let me know what  you think...

Re: Length of video??

  • What do you mean by "edits it all down to a 3-4 highlight video"?  If you are not happy with what the videographer is offering, either negotiate a different scope of choose someone else.  Not all videographers want their "raw footage" out there for all to see - for fear of someone seeing it and thinking it is their finished work.  Often times, the raw footage is difficult to watch anyway, has poor audio or organization.  Clearly, a 20-minute video of a 5 hour event will not have the same detail in coverage than a 1-hour or 1.5-hour video.  So you should decide carefully on this.  I am an experienced wedding videographer and my approach is to negotiate around what the bride really wants, not to pressure her into accepting what I think she should have.  Good luck.
