Day-of-timeline and shot list? Help please?

Our wedding is in 8 weeks and we meet with our photographer at the venue next week to discuss logistics and other things. When I asked her if there was anything I should bring, she replied "shot list and timeline, and invitation if I have that". I have asked for clarification, but wanted to know if you knew what she meant by "shot list" - is it my must have photos? Or a list of people that I want included in shots?

Also, does anyone have a sample day-of-itinerary/timeline that is fairly detailed that I can customize? We are on a budget and elected to choose an AWESOME photographer that was a bit pricey, so we only have her for 5 hours. So I really want a good itinerary that we can try to stick to. Any help is appreciated!!!

My photographer provided me a draft shot list which I tweaked.  But yeah, basically it had all the family shots I wanted and the people included.  We had already talked about "must have" photos but you can bring a list of those also.

Feel free to contact me and I can send you the template that I send my brides to fill out.  A photographer uses the list to make sure that all the formal portraits you want are captured in a timely manner following the ceremony and that any special images you really want are explained as well- so it is both names and picture ideas.

As for maximizing your time, here are a couple of suggestions:

Plan a first look photograph (see each other before the ceremony). This will allow you to take key portraits before you and your new husband feel rushed between ceremony and reception.  Plus, your hair and makeup will be fresh.  It may break away from tradition, but you can "choreograph" the moment to make it special and just between the two of you.

Plan your big exit from the ceremony instead of the reception.  This way, you can schedule your photographer to leave about an hour after dancing starts instead of staying until the end.  There's other benefits to this- exit pictures (ouutside of using sparklers) are always better with more natural light, and more guests will be around after the ceremony than at the end of the evening.

Just sent you a PM! Thanks!

Yes, we are seeing each other before the ceremony and having a "private" moment first so we still have it special... And we are doing bubbles on exit from ceremony. you are right on with what we have decided, so that's good at least!! Thank you!
