I looked like the love child of a drag queen and a raccoon

Ladies...I REALLY NEED YOUR ADVICE!
I just had my hair and make-up test recently. The woman doing my make-up is great BUT insists that it needs to be heavier at first because it will settle and my face needs to pop for pictures. I DON'T want to look like a tranny/raccoon! I would rather not pop in pictures as opposed to looking harsh coming down the aisle. I want to be soft and beautiful...I want the focus to be how he sees me and remembers me forever, not prepping for pictures.Sealed

Personally, I think makeup should only enhance, not obscure the face-thus-rendering the person unrecognizable.  I wear makeup only on special occasions, and on my wedding day, I went with others' advice and caked it on.  Granted, she did a good job, but in retrospect, I don't think as much was needed.  You'll glow from inside, and you should look and feel like yourself.

    tranny/racoon child...LOL

Thanks Jessfont! BTW, I see you're in Seattle - had the BEST doughnuts ever from that little place in Firsherman's Warf - seriously considered relocating!Laughing

First off, that is an amazing description.  LOL.

But yes, sometimes makeup artists can go for very, um, "dramatic" looks.  See #2 here (and, more importantly, #10): http://indiebliss.com/our-top-10-wedding-day-beauty-tips/

YOU need to be comfortable in your look for the day! I hope you can get that across to her. Did you get any shots of your makeup after the first trial?? Do you have another trial scheduled which you could try to go "softer".

I did 2 makeup trials  - just playing with some different shades/colors. On a scale of 1 to 10 with my every day look being 6 - we may have bumped my eye makeup to an 8 for day of. I wanted a smokier glam look for my eyes and my makeup artist was able to achieve that without me feeling overdone. I definitely recommend taking a few shots of the makeup right after application and even a few shots later in the day, just to see how it photographs as you wear it.

Good luck with everything! I'm sure you'll be gorgeous!!!
