suggestions for DJ on a BUDGET!

Hey ladies! I need suggestions for great DJs in the DFW area that are around $500. Unfortunately, that's all I can afford to budget for the DJ. Any suggestions of companies or specific DJs at the company would be greatly appreciated!!

    Vendor sticky.

Also, Melody and Memories would fall in your budget.

You might try Figment Productions or LeForce Entertainment.  They might be close.

Melodies and Memories quoted me $750 for the ceremony and reception, so I'm not sure if they will fall within your budget or not.  Definitely worth a shot though.

Maybe the 450.00 was for just the reception?

Really?  I was under the impression they were around M&M's price point.   Good to know.

And yeah, I thought M&M was more around $750 also.  I know Friday and Sunday weddings are cheaper.

I negotiated with Melodie and was able to get her down to, I think, $650. Which was still more than I wanted to pay. She'll negotioate with you if you try.

I used Andy with a Music Wave and paid $495 for a Saturday night ceremony and reception. He set up, had lights, and tore down all on his own. He was very helpful and meet/talked with me during the whole process. He was very nice. Keep in mind I got this price at the beginning of 2010 so I don't know if his prices have changed.

I think she gave me a good deal because a) we weren't getting her or Lori, b) we need reception only, c) I got a TK discount.  And possibly a teacher discount.  Once my first vendor offered me that I threw that title around like I was famous.

Edit: I also looked for DJs about 7 or 8 months ago, so she may have just changed her prices.

Edit2: And that didn't include extra speakers or uplights.  We really don't need/want them, so I don't remember what she priced them at.

Yeah, I booked Melodies and Memories and her price depends on a lot of things, so she might be a good one to try. I know if your location has it's own sound system already set up, then it's a lot cheaper, and you get a discount if you mention the knot.

I had two friends use the Dallas DJ connection and they were both minimal-budget weddings, so you might try them. Just beware that if you call them once, they will call you every day (maybe even multiple times a day) until you let them know that you booked someone else. They are very persistent.

LeForce varies depending on the DJ. Cratin and Jeff are 1000+ but there are cheaper ones

Our place has their own sound system, we mentioned TK, etc and that was the price we ended up at for four hours of time.  We booked her in mid-March I think, so later than you did.  That's awesome about the teacher discount!

THIS.  This is the #1 reason I did not go with them.  If its your policy to harrass people to get their business, you probably don't have that great of a service.  Good services = good word-of-mouth business = no need for multiple phone calls per day, even after you let them know you are not interested.

I got quite a few calls from Melody too.

    We're using A1-Entertainment
    a1dj.net

I wasn't able to use Jerry because he was booked so I have John.  John seems very fun but very serious about his job

I'm with angelsong, I booked M&M, and she told me $750 for the reception only :( BUT I figured that it's because my wedding is in June, prime wedding month. Still, that is quite a big difference!

I was quoted $750 I believe as well from M&M and that was ceremony and reception on a Saturday. That was also with the Knot discount.

We are paying $1000 for Jeff from LeForce Entertainment. Well actually $1250, we added on uplighting.

Dang LeForce people--if you don't need uplights, then just book Glenn.  He is worth it.  (Unless his prices have gone up drastically.)  And Kendall I know he wasn't available for you.

I spent $495 for ceremony and reception with Jabel Productions. I added 16 can lights around the room. That added $200. However, I did booked with him right after a bridal show when they were running a special. Since then he has had price increase.

I don't think Melody is any lower than $600 typically.  But angelsong, please don't feel "screwed" or unhappy with the price that you paid because Melody is worth every cent.  I honestly feel like she could even charge more - yes, she is that good.

It's okay, I don't feel that way at all. As long as as everyone else is in a similar price range with her, I'm all good. I know some people get different discounts and we may be getting married on different days and require different amounts of time, etc.  If everyone else was paying $450 and I was paying $750+, I would be unhappy, but that is not the case.

I solicited advice for DJs on here also and three were recommended to me ... M&M, Leforce and A-1. Leforce was "600-1250" and M&M never even returned my phone call. I booked Jerry Taylor at A-1 Entertainment and was EXTREMELY happy with everything! Great personality, affordable (525), kept the party hopping! We had a great time!

We are using Blair from Party all the time productions. Met with his last week and have called several brides who used him and they loved him. His price is $850 ( for a sunday wedding) hope that helps.
