Freaking out about Engagement Photos

Hi all....

what are some suggestions/ideas for engagement photos in a snowless winer?

our decision to schedule our photos was really last minute in order to get our save the dates out in two weeks....which will already be 4 months before the wedding so i dont even know if I still want to even do those....

my fiancé and i live 3 states apart and are meeting in the middle to get these done tomorrow.  the weather is absolutely terrible in indianapolis right now: it's cold, there's not even snow on the ground, it won't be sunny all weekend because of stupid chances of rain and overcast, and i havent had any chance to talk to my fiancé about planning anything since he's been on night shift.

I just would like some cool suggestions/ideas to do so make me feel like this actually isnt the worst time to have pictures taken.  thanks :(

  • Your photographer should know exactly what to do, if they are a good one. :)
This is supposed to be for them to worry about. They know the settings on the camera and the editing required to get your drowsy day photos to pop!! Also, photos turn out best if there is an overcast. Sunny days cause harsh shadows and can ruin photos.

    Have fun!

This person isn't selling anything they are offering good advice which is what the OP asked for. What is wrong with that? Harassment is not allowed on the board either, maybe you should keep that in mind.

OP if the photos are stressing you so much, you don't have to do it. It's not a requirement. Save the dates can be done without photos . Or you can use one they you take with a normal camera. This whole engagement photo thing is just another thing the wedding industry invented to make money. You have to consider whether it's worth the stess and money.
I am sending beautiful post cards for save the dates. They coast about $40 total.
  • Since your wedding is about four months out, this may be a good time to send the formal invitation rather than STD's. That said, I agree with AnnRogers' advice - a good photographer will know how to make your pictures wonderful! You can always use the photos for your invitations too. :)

  • I am in the same boat, freaking out about engagement pics. I have too many ideas and need to narrow them down. I bought signs that say love and our wedding day on etsy as well as chalkboards to write cute sayings on like "i asked" "i said yes". I want to bring the dog, a bubble machine, empty frames, and balloons! TOo much, I know!
Also I want pics of us jumping, walking past each other and looking back, piggy back rides, silhouette, through a window, through the engagement ring, and with us kissing with the skyline in the back!
Just some ideas I had I am really freaking out about them too!
