Engagement Pictures

So I am newly engaged. My fiancé proposed to me on 1/1/13 at 12:00 a.m. (:
Anyways.. I was wondering how long I should wait to take engagement pictures? We are planning to get married on August 3, 2014 so we have a little ways to go.

Hi Haley. My fiance did the same! We are actually doing pictures on Easter Sunday. We're eloping sometime early next year and we are doing them that early because I'm a student in PA and he's a marine in NC so it's one of the few times we can meet up to do it. I don't think it's too early to do them sometime this spring. There is sometimes a small turn around time to actually get the pictures and then it's nice to be able to use them for save the dates and invites.

I usually recommend getting engagement photos about 2 or 3 months before you want to send out your Save The Dates. However, if there is a particular season before then, or a location you have your heart set on, do it whenever you and the photographer are free.

I just did an engagement session, and I posted some previews online, but I didn't post any of the STD pics, so that they could be used only for the cards. (:
