anyone else not enjoying this???

Hey Ladies,
Just need a little vent...
I was always the BIGGEST wedding person, loved everything about them and wanted so badly to have my own, now that its 6 months away I can't be bothered! I don't know why i have lost my enthusiasm...maybe its the price of everything!! I can't believe i'm going to spend over 200 on a bouquet that i'm going to hold for half an hour....
is anyone else having these feelings...or am i crazy??????

Re: anyone else not enjoying this???

  • Not crazy! I've lost some of my enthusiasm as well. It is fun to plan it out, but when you actually get to the point of paying for everything you've planned...it's not so fun anymore! I know there's so much I should be doing now to get ahead of the game and not be stressed out in 5 months...but it's just not happening. Hopefully another spurt of enthusiasm will hit us soon!

  • Yeah it happens. Thinking about how much I have to run around discorouages me sometimes. Enthusiasm will come when it's ready :)
  • Not yet, I'm still waiting for it to hit me. So far I'm loving every bit of this.

  • So far, I'm enjoying it!  I just wish I had more money! haha...thats the only thing that I'm worried about, but I know in the end it'll all work out the way we want it to!! =)  I'm just looking forward to April so I can finish my DIY projects, have my shower & three months later be married!!  I'm sure I'll have my moments though!
  • With me it's the other way around, I never cared for weddings, but now that I'll have one of my own, I love it!

If you feel bad about certain expenses, just skip them or look for alternatives. 200 dollar for a bouquet is a lot of money. Don't feel like you need to live up to certain expectations, do what feels good for you and what makes you enthousiastic.

  • I go through ups and downs about it. When I'm not feeling it, I just put it aside for a few weeks and focus on other fun things going on.

And just try to focus on the big picture, being married and celebrating with your closest family and friends. I agree that $200 is a lot for a bouquet, so I'm sure there are things you can look into scaling back if you feel overwhelmed about the $$.

This! Anything I haven't had a good time with has either been frustrating because I am scared of making a definite decision, or how much money everything costs!

  • I've had my moments I kind of went and blew through booking a bunch of things and then got exhausted.  Just take a few weeks off and it will get better.  I just have small things to do now since my FI and parents are taking care of the last big thing which is transportation for the guests.  We also have to figure out what we want to do on our honeymoon but I love doing that stuff so I'm saving it for when I don't feel like doing anything else.

  • I feel like the enthusiasm comes in short bursts for me.  I was really dedicated in the beginning and got all of my vendors together within the span of a week but all of the little things have been discouraging and I have grown to care less about what certain things look like.

In the end, I think it's pretty normal to feel overwhelmed on some things but I try to remember that the result of being married is what is important.
  • You aren't crazy...I stopped enjoying the planning a while ago.

  • I don't think I've lost my entusiasm, but I know my stress level is a lot higher because I'm so overwhelmed and have a lot left to do. I just want to be able to do everything, but without all the money at once to do them, I have to do bit by bit and I hate it.
