Do I Need Photographer Insurance?

A bit confused about this and whether I need it.  I saw that my potential photographer does not have it, got worried, emailed her, and she said she doesn't have it because she doesn't use equipment (other than a camera and flash) and insurance is needed for tripods, etc.  Does anyone have any wisdom re: this?  Thanks.

<div>She's wrong. It's her right not to purchase insurance but IMO it's stupid not to have it. If someone trips over her bag and sues her she's screwed. Or if she suggests a pose and someone breaks an ankle during it, she's screwed. Many venues here will not allow a vendor to work at the venue without insurance.</div>
  • Your photographer should have a Liability Insurance policy set up for their business. This is really important, as some venues will not allow a vendor that does not have this. It covers any property damages or bodily injury caused by the photographer and/or their equipment.

I would be nervous of their professionalism if they do not have a liability policy set up for their business.
  • A photographer should provide their own insurance.
  • Your photographer should have insurance no matter what. The hall usually requires it. It is not just for tripods but it is for bodily harm. what if he trips over someone or they trip over him? if they refuse to get it find a different photographer.
