Tattoo Pic(s)?

First off, please do not turn this into a debate about tattoos and/or their appropriateness in a wedding... (I have multiple, FI has two full sleeves onto his hands and multiple elsewhere, and nearly everyone in WP has at least one.)


Onto my question: being that we'll have such a coloroful WP, would requesting the photographer get a shot of the WP with tattoos be odd? I will have one visible on my back/shoulder, two of my BM's have them on their necks, and one BM has one on her back/between her shoulders. Plus, FI has all of his...

It's something that we celebrate as a couple, and I'm sort of wondering if we can make a point of remembering it in the wedding photos, as well, but I'm not sure how a photographer would go about that or if it's a really odd request.

I think that's completely fine. I have a couple of tattoos, and I think they're a beautiful artform that it's perfectly fine to celebrate in your wedding photos.

I assume many of the tattoos will be visible during your wedding anyway, so asking the phtoographer to take a few close up shots is not a big deal.

I love this idea. I think that the photos will turn out great, and it is something important to you and your FI.

Also, props for being so open about it. It gets tiring seeing post about tats and people wanting their WP to cover them up for their "special day."

Definitely have the photographer do it. Your tattoos will set you apart from the "traditional" bridal portraits. I was at a friend's wedding and she had a big shoulder tattoo that the photographer was trying to enhance in her pictures- he took a really nice one of her looking over her should with the tattoo in the foreground (it looked great, and really unique for a bridal portrait), but she asked him to remove the tattoo in all of her pictures. I have no idea why she would do that!
If you have tattoos, they are part of you and help to form your physical identity. Not only should you NOT cover them up, but you should include and enhance them.

Thank you so much ladies!! I was worried that, in the scheme of a fairly traditional and more formal wedding, this request would seem odd... but it being such a part of us, I feel like it would be fun to really play it up... I mean, not make ALL of the pictures about it, but have an artsy photo or two involving it.

I'm glad the request isn't so out there (because I've gotten the "tattoos are tacky and shouldn't be part of a wedding" lecture before... ugh)!

thanks for the idea! my fiance and i also have some tattoos and now I will be asking the photographer to get a close up as well!!
