Worried about my wedding pictures.

My wedding isn't until April 2nd of next year. I am so NOT photogenic, at all. I'm very worried that I am going to mess up our pics, it's completely stressing me out. I'm very lucky, and a photographer/family friend has givin me some great rates on a package of hers. (And she just threw in a free engagement photoshoot, at a location of my choice. -end brag-) But anyways, I guess I'm looking for tips on taking good pics. She's a candid photographer, but will also do some where she'll place us. Any tips on how I can make my pics the best they can be?

Have fun! That's key. If you and your FI are enjoying yourselves, it will come through in the photos, and they'll be beautiful. Don't stress about the pictures...simply be yourselves (and enjoy your wedding day!) and your photographer will be able to capture that.

Also, I'm sure your photographer will have suggestions for the most flattering poses, etc. and will help you through the session. I can't stress enough the importance of listening to your photog during your posed portraits, even when the poses feel ridiculous. I model, and sometimes the poses that feel the most absurd are the shots that come out the best.

Your hair and make-up will be done on your wedding day, too, which should give you an added boost of confidence. I'm sure you'll be a beautiful bride and have gorgeous photos from your wedding day. :)

You'll be fine. You will be so wrapped up in the moment, you'll forget that the photographer is there.

A small glass of (white) wine might help the jitters go and make you relax. Not too much, then you might go in a totally unflattering direction.

Have fun and all the best on your special day.

It's great that you get an engagement session. You can use this as "practice" for what will look good and what you should do for your big day. This doesn't mean you have to go all out and get your hair and markup done up, but it will at least get you comfortable infront of the camera and photographer. You will also come out of that knowing certain things to do or not do for your wedding day photography.

You will be surprised at how they turn out.. don't think about it (because then it will show in the pictures)... just have fun!!

Is that you in your profile picture?  As a photographer, let me assure you that you are very photogenic.  I'd love all my brides were as "not photogenic" as you!  ;)
