Engagement Photos

My fiance doesn't want to get engagement photos, he thinks that they are cheesy and stupid.  However I have wanted nice pictures of us for ever now and really want to get them done.  PLUS we have a FREE session that is included with our photographer we booked for the wedding so it seems stupid to let it go to waste.  I am just upset and not sure how to convince him to get them done.  I want it to be an enjoyable experience for us both and not him loathing the whole process.... suggestions??

    Can you pick a place that will have meaning for him(or both of you)? That might help.

    Engagement shots are a great way to get a feel for the photographer before the wedding day. Tell him you can use that session to get to know the photog and maybe focus on getting fun shots or shots at a location special to both of you (favorite place, hobby, ect) instead of traditional posed type portraits.

    I would look for good engagement shots to show him. A lot of them are cheesy but there's some really good ones out there. That might help him get more excited.
    And if you should die before me, ask if you can take a friend. Pick a flower, close your eyes,and drift away- STP

    Thanks!  I have literally suggested all of that! haha... at least we are all on the same page!  He is very stubborn. =(  I did talk to him last night about the whole thing and said bottom line its something I really want to do and we can make it fun.  So we are going to have them done.  =)  He's not thrilled but he said ok and I even said we can include our puppy to make it more like a little "family thing" .  I think that helped!   Thank you all!!!

    sounds great that he is going to do it. Does he drink wine? My fiance was hesitent as well and we drank some wine to loosen him up. Take a look at the piks. May give you some helpful ideas.

    My FI wondered what engagement pics were for.  Yeah.  He is kinda clueless on the wedding front, but it's cute.  He isn't good in front of a camera either, I let him have a beer first and he totally loosened up and was himself.  We did our session today and had a blast!  I would also suggest to use places that you want to use for your wedding day.  That way he will know kinda what he's doing the day of.

    i dont think i ever really made it an option whether or not to do engagement pics.. lol.. sounds mean but my photographer is making an engagement book that serves as our wedding guest book.  soo he had to do it anyway.. andd we included our dog in it too.. just bring someone to occupy your baby while you get the pics with your guy.  It was a TON of fun, he even thought so!
