November wedding pictures??

Hi all!

I have a tentative date set for 11-9-13, in the Boston area.

I'm VERY concerned over what to do about pictures!! My main concern is that there isn't going to be any daylight for them, and is it normal to not have outside pictures? Our ceremony (mass) would be probably 5:30-6:30, reception about 7pm n and 20 mins. away. The church could only do a 1:30 wedding, 2:30, or 5:30 due to mass schedules ect ect.

I think i definitely do NOT want to see my FI before the church (traditions and such!) but I also was weary of having the wedding at 2:30 if the reception isn't until 6 or 7 pm. Our guests are local, and won't have a hotel or anything to kill time in between. But not local enough to go home and wait it out...

Has anyone had a november wedding, and taken outside pictures/what did you do for pics?? Can photog's make enough lighting to make it LOOK like dayime?? Daylight savings time will be in effect, so it will probably be pitch black!! I really do want a fall wedding, and with the reception hall we got a discount for "off season" which starts in Nov...Nov 2 was taken!

ANY help would be appreciated!!!

Re: November wedding pictures??

  • if you THINK you do not want to see FI prior to the wedding...think about it some more and reconsider the moment that is THE FIRST LOOK. It is your opportunity alone to enjoy one another without any interuption from family or friends. It is a moment that you will share forever. Then when you walk down the aisle...nothing will change...trust me. I was against the first look and eventually decided to do it and I have NO REGRETS.

    Hope this info helps.

I had a November wedding and the only outdoor pictures I got were of our first look.  Our ceremony had to be held after sundown for religious reasons, but since we did a first look, we could have gotten outdoor pictures as our pictures were scheduled from 5-6 with the ceremony at 7.  But only because we did the first look.

However, my ceremony space ended up being tented (long story) and there weren't really any other places for outdoor pics, so we ended up doing them inside.  I was upset about it for awhile, but I got over it.  The formal pics weren't that important to me.  We did all of our B&G pics inside the hotel and I actually love them.

If outdoor pics are important to you, I would definitely think about it--for awhile after my wedding, every time I saw outdoor BP pics, it made me sad.  But please don't do a gap--that is very inconvenient for your guests.  Good luck!

ETA:  If you are not doing a first look, then when are you doing your pictures--if the ceremony ends at 6:30 and the reception starts at 7 and is 20 minutes away, that doesn't leave you any time unless you plan on arriving after your guests (which is fine just make sure you provide F&B for them while they wait).

One thing you can do is take all of the pics that don't have both you and your FI in them before the ceremony and those can be outdoors (you with your girls, him with his guys, you with your parents, him with his, etc.).
