Engagement Photos

Hey all,
My fiance and I are getting our Engagement Photos taken on Friday, and I just had a question.  What is the best thing to wear?  I have seen on the internet that you should bring a casual outfit and a formal outfit to change into, is that the best idea?  I really have no clue how to do this.  To be honest, the last time I got my picture taken by a professional it was in 2003 and I was getting my senior pictures taken.  Please help if you can! Thanks a bunch!!!

i'm pretty sure you should discuss with your photographer to see if you'll do outfit changes, etc. but i could be wrong. i would call to make sure.

but for outfits, i like pictures where the couple looks comfortable but semi coordinated. solids are always good choices, paired with nice denim. like maybe a nice solid top for you and a button-down or polo for him. i wouldn't do matchy matchy with the colors unless it's black.

I would plan on wearing what both of you are most comfortable in. If you want to do a few dressy shots and then change into something more casual for fun shots, that should work out well. Ditto PP about talking to your photog and also taking into consideration the location(s) your photos will be taken at.

There is a sticky post at the top of this board with e-pic examples. If you haven't looked at that post already, I would take a look to see what other's have chosen to wear.

I agree with Forma; casual and a little coordinated.  I can't imagine doing something formal, unless that happens to be the style of photo you're looking for.  And your photographer absolutely should be guiding you on this.

My only advice is to wear something that doesn't need to be adjusted.  We all have those outfits that need to be fixed constantly... leave that one at home.

Otherwise have fun.. I never did Epics.. but it sounds like fun!

Have a blast at your photo shoot.  We had ours taken in a snowstorm, so we were pretty much limited to ski jackets for our attire, but they were still cool photos.

Here's a link to a blog post I found about dressing for engagement photos:

The best advice we got was to wear dark colors, (the eye goes to faces and then light colors, if dark colors are worn, the eye will keep going back to the faces), don't wear same colors and stay away from patterns. I wore a navy blue, spaghetti strap sun dress, dressy flip flops and he wore a dark green, short sleeved, button down shirt and dark jeans, flip flops. They came out great!! Very glad we listened to our photographers advice!!

We had ours done this weekend and I wore a bright yellow strapless Calvin Klein dress. We had our photos on the water so the vibrant yellow looked amazing.

The photographer said she loved the dress and all the photos turned out so cool!! Here is a sample:
