Engagement Pics: When to take?

Hi Girls!

I just found an awesome photographer who is doing our engagement shots for free.  We got engaged on New Years Eve and I was wondering if it is wrong to wait until the weather clears to get our pictures taken.  I live in Northern Michigan and it's nasty out.  There's beautiful beaches around and I don't want to miss out on the scenery!

Note: I joined the Knot in July because my best friend got engaged and we were looking at wedding stuff together.

We waited about 5 months to take our pictures because I wanted to lose some weight first ;)

I think anytime is fine.  They are most commonly used for the wedding website, guest book table at the wedding, engagement announcement in the local paper, etc., so there is not really a rush to get them done.

We did ours about a month after we got married because we wanted to capture the fall weather but keep them early enough that our campus would still be empty from break.  I don't think it matters when you take them really, my sister went and had hers done 5 months before her wedding because my mom just wanted formal pictures of her and her FI.

Our wedding is in June, we're doing pictures in April. We want to wait until winter is over...I just hope April showers don't plague us. Plus, we're doing an engagement photo guest book, so our photographer recommended about two months time for that.
