Your opinions please.....

Hello Ladies...

We met with our photographer last night for the first time and found out that the all inclusive package that we are getting through our venue does not include a cd of the high resolution images. Although, we can purchase that cd from him for an additional $450.

My finance thought that was really expensive and I agree it is a lot of money but I also think that we would probably spend more then that if we ordered additional prints from him. A 4x6 is $10.00. Does anyone else have this decision to make??

I don't have to make that decision, but honestly, it would probably be worth it to buy the CD.

That is very expensive, but I personally am more concerned about having the digital copies rather than prints. Does it include a CD of lower resolution images?

The photographer did say that we will get a CD of the low resolution images but they will have his logo on them, and I believe even the word proof will be across all the pictures as well... I totally agree with you in that I would rather have the digital images! We are mostly likely going to get the CD because the pictures are really important to me!!

Reprint rights and high resolution images were on our must haves list.  If a photographer either would not provide them, or charged for it, they were immediately crossed off our list.  When you are paying $100's or even $1000's of dollars for photography, what good is it if you can't get the result of their work?

Edit:  since it's though an all-inclusive package, I'm assuming you didn't have a choice in photographer?  I would suggest trying to talk them down on the price of the cd, but if all else fails, yeah I would probably pay to get the disk.

I  actually think that $450 is on the low end. I've seen photographers charge into the thousands for the disk. I would purchase the disk. It will be worth it in the long run.

Depends how much you are paying in your package for photography. Most photographers include the disk in their prices, but using a photographer from a venue is a different story. There is no way you can bring in your own photographer?

In my view, if you already commited to a higher end package, I would be a little indignant that the dvd wasn't included or that I'm only getting low res images.  That said, I think the disc is worth it.

My phhotgrapher charges $1500 for a disc of edited images and personal printing rights.  $450 is cheap.  Beisdes, what are you really going to do with the images?  Put the disc on your shelf and watch it collect dust?  Postthem on facebook and then forget about them?  I personally would invest in some nice big pictures to put on your walls and an album.  You can touch an album.  Files almost don't seem real...
