[QUOTE]Do y'all think it would be too late to get appointments for this Saturday? And Stephanie, I know a lot of people shun David's but I don't get it? I have actually seen a lot of dresses that I think are pretty from their website. Maybe it would be different in person. Or if it's an issue with quality, I would definitely stay away, but I haven't heard anyone justify why they are so anti-David's.

Hey Brooke! I just went shopping and David's was on my list.  My main issue with them was the quality. For a $600-700 dress, my mom and I referred to the material as "parachute" or "tent" material. It was pretty sheer and kind of felt like it was made of plastic. If you can get past that, the dresses overall were pretty plain, the trains especially had little to no detailing and were very short. The only dress in the store I even considered was one that was entirely "lace". It looked really pretty but was not the best feeling. Especially at $800, which was right around the price range of my other dress. Secondly, it was reallllly slow... I only tried on about 4 dresses in nearly 2 hours. They only brought out one dress at a time so I spent a lot of time waiting.

I got my dress at Bridal Boutique in Lewisville. Out of the places I went it had the best prices and huge selection. And the staff was extremely helpful and pulled dresses similar to the ones I had picked.  I also went to Terry Costa and Circle Park and they did not have near the same inventory. For the price, Circle Park did have very high-quality and beautiful stuff, though.

    Completely agree with this.

David's is great if you want taffeta and pick-ups, though. If that's your thing, you'll be happy.

[QUOTE]I am way late on this too. I got my dress at Lewisville Bridal Boutique, and never had one bad experience. Their dresses are gorgeous, high quality, and the service that I received, as has everyone else I know personally, has been great.  They do have some dresses there under $1k, but you'll mainly have to stay upstairs and probably buy something off the rack. Otherwise, most will be more than $1k. (That was my budget, too, btw).

Interesting. I stayed downstairs and found a TON of dresses in my price range, even a few Maggies. Many of them were on sale too. Don't feel like you have to buy a sample dress at these stores, you'll be able to find something!

I'm a little late, but wanted to throw in my 2 cents.

I had really good shopping experiences at Terry Costa (were I purchased my dress), Lewisville Bridal (where I would have purchased if they didn't refuse to lower the price when I learned that I could order the same dress for $200 less at more than 10 different stores that I called), and Lasting Bridal Couture of Addison.

I also tried David's but for me it was the experience there.  I only tried on 2 dresses, but felt a real lack of help from the associate.  I did have to order a BM dress from there for my MOH's wedding which is in 2 weeks, and didn't have any problems with that.

    Tam,

That is interesting. My consultant brought a few from downstairs for me to try on that were under my $1k price range, but there weren't many. That was just my experience, though. And they get different things in all the time. They may have different dresses right now than when I bought mine, that are less expensive. I went in March, and it was all fairly expensive.

ETA: My dress is a Maggie, and was on sale for less than $1k :)

    NMac,
Truthfully, I wasn't looking at most of the prices. My mom paid for my dress so if she was pulling stuff then she was OK with the price. I know there were a couple of Maggies that were around $1300 that she didn't let me try on, lol.  I probably tried on 15 dresses and then narrowed it down to a Jasmine and Sophia Tolli which were both under $1K.

I was really price concious, if it was over $1k, I didn't even try it on because I didn't want to tease myself and waste my time. I had a strict budget. But, I just got lucky with my dress, it happened to be on sale and be exactly what I was looking for, and within my budget.

Now...add on a veil and alterations....we're looking at way over $1k. hahah. But, such is life. :)

IMO David's Bridal doesn't even compare to all those other stores you are listing! I would wait til the end if you absolutely have to go there...

I bought my dress at the Bridal Co. in Denton-it was my third store. They have Alfred Angelo and Maggie dresses and they are MUCH cheaper than if you went to an actual Alred store. They have a ton of sample sale dresses too! Mine was originally $2,049 on sale for $599. Definately go there!

Not sure if anyone posted it or not, but Elizabeth's Bridal in Hurst (by the NE Mall) is REALLY awesome. It's very tiny but you get one on one attention. Elizabeth and mom are SUPER sweet. I was a little nurvous about trying on dresses (due to cost/length/sizes av) and she made me so relaxed and makes you feel gorgeous! I paid 989.00 for my dress (Brides and Baux in Colleyville wanted like 1400 for the exact dress).  Ontop of that, they will do your bustle (any bustle) for FREE!!!! Can't beat that price! Payments are great too...you can do layaway...you can put some down and make payments when you wish...(even if you have to order). With tax, mine came to be less than 1100. There are other gowns that are less pricey too.

I got my dress from Bridal Designs in Southlake...absolutely love it... Mom and I both knew it was the one. Anyway Mom and I walked thru and picked a few dresses and the person helping us brought over one more dress if I remember correctly. It seemed like they wanted to help more than I allowed them to... I just don't like help but I did let them lace my dresses up. They have dresses in your price range...mine was $800.

The only other places I'd been (with friends) was David's Bridal and Alfred Angelo and I just don't think they compared at all. They weren't even worth considering in comparison.
