what is gift theme?

I just received an invitation to a bridal shower that says, "Gift Theme: Holloween or Thanksgiving". What does this mean? and What would you suggest I get her. I was the originally planning on getting her something off her registry, but now I don't know. I've never heard of gift themes.

I also have never heard of such a theme.  And, I am typically not one that likes to be told what to purchase.  However, I also do not like to "stick out" like a sore thumb, so I would try to find a compromise.  Perhaps if the bride-to-be has any type of baking ware on her registry,  you could add a Halloween Funfetti Cake Mix and some Halloween themed cupcake liners to your gift.  You could add some cornbread mix to a set of loaf pans.  If she has some pots or pans on the registry, you could include some seasonally themed potholders or towels.  If you think outside of the box a bit you should be able to make a purchase from the registry to ensure it is a gift the bride wants, and incorporate the theme into your choice to show you're a "team player".
