Shower Calendar Idea

My FI has a HUGE family (ie. 11 uncles, 9 aunts, 50+ 1st cousins) and I am really intimidated about learning everyone's birthdays and anniversaries.  His mom would be my go to person for these details, but she is recovering from a major stroke.

I had an idea - but I wanted to run it past you girls to find out if it is a good or bad idea.  The last thing I want to do is something rude or tacky.

I thought I could buy a nice calendar and have it at the shower.  We would ask guests to fill my calendar with important dates (birthdays, anniversaries, etc).

What do you think?  (Be honest, if it is a bad idea- I would rather hear it here first!)

I don't think it would be rude at all!

It is a nice way to gather information on a special day for everyone that will help you recognize them later in the year.

I love that idea. That would also be a great gift idea from a MOG, along with some greeting cards. Your FILs are going to think you're very charming.

I've seen this before, actually for baby showers, b/c of BIRTHdays.  However, instead of a calendar, it was a journal created especially for keeping track of birthday and anniversaries.  Know what I mean?  HTH!

I think it's a great idea.  I don't think anyone will think it's tacky - people will be touched that you care enough to want to know when their important events are!

We did that at Thanksgiving and put down address and emails too!  Then my FI's cousin mailed out all the info to everyone in the family.  Boy did that ever help me with sending out invitations, he has 19 aunts and uncles and 27 cousins!  All on his mother side of the family!

Thanks for all your feedback.  I thought it was a good idea, but sometimes I get ideas that I think are good one day and then a couple weeks later I realize they are absolutely stupid - lol
