Pampered Chef?

I might have missed this post somewhere, so please forgive me if that is the case!

I just returned home from a Pampered Chef party. While I was there, the representative was telling me about the bridal showers that they do.

Have any of you ever attended one?
What kinds of things do they do?
Would you like to attend this kind of bridal shower or would you feel uncomfortable about having to buy something right there on the spot?

See, that's what I thought. I think it would be a fun party and it would be nice to get that stuff for our kitchen, but it did seem kind of odd to me. I don't want to put any guest on the spot and make them feel like they must buy something right then even if it's something they don't want to get for me.

Yes.  Actually, I really think I would just leave at that point.

When the consultant brought the whole subject up, she could tell I was standofish at first. I did tell her that I felt like it may be somewhat rude, and I didn't want it to be that way.
She said that they do special things at parties such as bridal showers. She said that you register for the things you want. When you send out invititations, it has some kind of Pampered Chef bruchure in there. Then at the party, they do several games and do cooking presentations about the bride. At the end of the party, after people have bought whatever they are going to buy, each item is written on a card, and the cards are given to the bride. She then opend the card to see what she willl be getting..
I just get mixed feelings about this... IDK if people in different locations are more against it than others. But it seemed like everyone at the party last night thought it was a cool idea..
THanks for the advice ladies. Now I don't feel like the crazy one!

What kinds of things do they do? They do a presentation and then the guests of the shower feel obligated to buy something
Would you like to attend this kind of bridal shower or would you feel uncomfortable about having to buy something right there on the spot? NOOOOOooo I honestly would decline the invitation if ever sent to me and I would definitely not buy anything on the spot. I like to attend the shower with a gift I've already picked out off the registry and wrap it myself. Plus that way I have an opportunity to use coupons and I'm not paying someone else's commission.

I never go to those sales "parties".  Ever.  For anyone.  For any reason.  So chances are excellent that I wouldn't attend one disguised as a shower either.  Your instincts are great:  don't do this.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146

What kinds of things do they do? Its a bridal shower, the whole point is to shower the bride with gifts, this is a great way to do that
Would you like to attend this kind of bridal shower or would you feel uncomfortable about having to buy something right there on the spot? I know several of my recently married friends who have had pampered chef bridal showers and everyone who has attended had a great time. There is not a ton of pressure to buy on the spot but I would from everything I have heard host one.
