Bridal shower invites

Hi everyone!
Who should I invite to my bridal shower? my FMIL wants me to invite not only the girls going to the wedding, but even people that are not invited to the wedding. Is that weird? I didn't really think that was a good idea. Thoughts?! Thanks!

    You're right. It's definitely not appropriate to invite anyone who is not invited to the wedding.

    I have heard of families/brides inviting people to their showers that they can't invite to the wedding ceremony or reception. I think it's fine. It's a way to include them in your festivities since they can't share your big day.

    A shower is more intimate and less expensive so you can invite anyone you want. I was  inivted to a bridal shower that was thrown for the bride but I was not invited to her wedding. I understood.
