Bridal Shower

I volunteered to give my FI's brother's FI a bridal shower.  They are getting married in July and the shower is at the begining of June.  I haven't been to a bridal shower for a very long time and I've never personally planned one before.  I am also getting married this year, so money is super tight, but I would like her shower to be a special  one.  So, I'm in need of ideas on how to throw her a nice shower without breaking the bank.  She gave me a guest list of 35 ladies.

What kinds of games have you ladies enjoyed at showers in the past and which ones did you dislike?  If you're married and have had a shower...what did you like/dislike about it?  Do I need to purchase favors, door prizes, etc?

Sorry for the million questions...just feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Well right off the bat you can save money by having the shower at a non-meal time. If you do something around 2pm you can get away with just drinks and cake and maybe a few things like a veggie tray and cheese and crackers. Just keep it simple and nice and no one will miss all the food.

I don't know much about shower games, so I can't help you there, but you don't need favors. No one will be expecting them and not getting them will save you lots of money. You can do door prizes, but again, they don't have to be fancy. You could even make something edible if you're a good baker.

Also, talk to her bridesmaids and see if they would be interested in pitching in whatever time or money they have available. Just let them know they can contribute as little or as much as they want and work together to plan something the bride would really enjoy.

A cute and easy game is the bridal shower "Mad Libs" you can find it online. Its a cure story about the bride and groom with blanks to fill in, like mad libs (adjective, verb, etc...) during the shower you can go around asking guests to fill in the blanks, without relvealing the story to them. Then the bride can read the full story in front of everyone. Its cute and pretty funny how it turns out once the blanks are filled in.

Another one is the "how well do you know your fiance". About 10-20 questions, (like favorite band, favorite food, etc...) that you'll have to get  the answers from the groom before hand. Every time she gets one wrong she has to put a piece of bubble gum (that stuff in the yellow wrapper thats kind of hard and chewy is the best to use) in her mouth. Before she knows it she trying to chew like 8 pieces of gum. You can always substitute the gum with something else that she is not a fan of!
