Food Ideas For My Shower

Hi ladies*

My shower is coming up and we are planning it for 3:00 during the day time so I am wondering what kind of foods are good for a shower. I've never been to a bridal shower before so any advice on what not to fix or to fix would be great. Its going to be in a large home so any centerpiece ideas or anything else would be great too. My MOH is trying to get the menu lineup ready but I know you ladies would have great ideas too :) Thanks so much!

    For mine it sounds like my FMIL is doing a bunch of veggie/cheese/vegetable trays, chips, and some dessert-type snacks.

    What about an edible arrangement for the centerpiece?

    My shower had all finger foods, which was really nice so we didn't have to worry about silverware and anything real messy.  My aunts had a fruit display, a cheese platter with baguette slices & crackers, a cheese ball, chicken salad cups, small-sized turkey and roast beef sandwiches, and a bunch of different cupcakes.  It was all really tasty and appropriate for the occasion.

    If you would like a meal, Pei-Wei does party platters.

    Jason's Deli has party platters of sandwiches, pastas, fruit, cookies

    Are you doing a theme or what type centerpieces are you looking for ? 

    Party City has bridal shower balloons, banners, etc. Or you can order a personalized one online at: simplyweddingstuff or bigdotofhappiness for $19.99.

    For a shower at 3:00 in the afternoon, it is appropriate to only have finger foods/appetizers.  I would suggest 2-3 hot items and 3-4 cold items plus something sweet!  This also depends on how many people will be there but is my general rule of thumb as an event planner.

    I went to one two weeks ago where we had cucumber sandwiches, ham and turkey asparagus rolls with cream cheese, spinich and strawberry salad, salmon dip with crackers, cheeses, veggies, cookies, jelly beans, and I provided these chocolate biscuts which were a request of the bride (my friend) and were a HUGE success.

    I KNOW there were other foods as well, but at the moment I can't remember what they were.

    Im my "group" and "area" showers are usual just cake and punch.  If you want "food" I suggest the cheese and cracker and fruit route.

    I  just had my shower this past weekend at 3pm we had burgers, dogs, salads and other baseball food. (It was a Red Sox themed shower) Everyone really seemed to enjoy it.
