So two of my bridesmaids have offered to throw my fiance' and I an engagement party. Is that normal or should it be thrown by a family member if it is thrown at all? Honestly, I haven't been to very many engagement parties and I just can't remember. My fiance' doesn't want to 'put anyone out' so to speak and would prefer a casual come and go type event at the neighborhood bar where we met for the first time after winking at each other on match.
I love the sentimentality of that, but is that typical or appropriate?
