How does girl with more guy friends have a shower?

Hello!

My name's Bridget and I'm getting married on 9-20-14. My question about showers is what do I do about one when I have more guy friends over girl friends? I'm mostly having family members whom I am close to stand up with me in the wedding, so I kind of feel comfortable approaching them with this, but the future M-I-L kind of put a stink about this. But I'm more leaning towards of just wanting a huge party that everyone can come to, rent out a room in an Irish pub, and maybe have a dj friend spin some music. Is that too forward of me to ask of this from my friends and future in-law-family? I know my side of the family won't be shocked of me wanting this, since in the past, I have expressed my dislike of showers and "girly-girl" events of the like. I'd just feel more comfortable in an environment where I can have all of my friends and family there instead of hearing 20 to 30 women squealing over a toaster oven like a bunch of 1950's housewives. So does anyone have suggestions on how to approach this and how throw this? Thanks!

Why don't you do a co-ed couples shower? My favorite one of these was "entertainment" themed, and the guests brought board games, movie passes, restaurant gift cards, etc.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

A shower at an Irish pub sounds like fun to me, but you shouldn't ask anyone to host one for you.You should wait until someone offers. If the host(s) asks for your suggestions, you may tell them that you would like both male and female friends at your party and you can throw the Irish pub idea out there as a suggestion. Keep in mind that the host(s) are responsible for refreshments so they will have to plan within their own budgets. Guests must not be expected to pay for anything, including their own food and drinks.

Also, showers usually take place a month or two before the wedding, so it's still early for anyone to be planning your shower.

Yes, it'[s too forward of you to ask anyone to throw you a party. However, nothing is stopping you from throwing a party (on your dime) for family and friends.
