Pre-wedding Parties

Rehearsal dinner info posted on our web site?

We're going to invite everyone who's coming from out of town to the rehearsal dinner, in addition to family and the wedding party.  Is it OK to post this on our website?  I think yes because people in-town wouldn't expect to be invited to the dinner, but on the other hnad I think no because we are excluding this "group".  What do you think?

Re: Rehearsal dinner info posted on our web site?

  • I would send out separate invites for that.  You really don't want to assume who's coming and have extras, or similarly, assume that the invited guests know where to find that info.  And there's a multitude of different traditions with the rehearsal.  Some people think that OOT guests are invited, some don't.  Sometimes it's BP only.  For those reasons you will want to personally invite those who are actually invited.

We bought themed invites and sent them out to guests who had RSVPed for the rehearsal.

  • It's probably not the best idea to assume the in-towners assume they won't be invited. It's a lot of assuming.

  • I wouldn't put it on the website. Send out additional invites-- they don't need to be fancy!

  • I wouldn't put anything on your website that 100% of your guests aren't invited to. I've attended rehearsal dinners where I lived in town and wasn't part of the wedding party; some people do invite more than just OOT people, so I wouldn't count on your in-town guests assuming that they're not invited.
  • Separate invites.

You can get invites pretty cheap from VP :)
