Place Card question

My parents are hosting a couple wedding shower for my fiance and I.  We just booked the banquet hall and they were kind enough to already give us place cards.  I like the place cards, but I would have to manually write in the names and table numbers.  I tried to see if there is a way to print out the names but I would be too difficult.  Plus I don't know anyone who has a good old-fashion typewriter.  Any ideas on how to place the names/numbers onto the cards w/o having to write it myself?   Maybe a label maker?

None of my family members for close friends have really nice handwriting.  I just don't want them to look like chicken strach or unreadable.

Do you even need the place cards? I've never been to a shower where there was a seating chart and place cards. I only see that at weddings because there's a lot more people.

Normally I would agree with not doing place cards but in this case there will be 60+ people at this couples shower brunch at a very formal banquet hall.  Both males and females will be there and a few guests may be forced to bring children.  Also to keep family peace it would be best to assign seating.  Certain people will need to be kept apart.  I am thinking of just buying a simple label maker.

Can you feed them through your printer?  I did invites, information cards, rsvps, and will be doing escort cards all using Word and my ink jet printer.

You can print clear labels and stick them on the cards

Most librarys still have typewriters if you ask to use them.  Just call your local library and find out if they have one.

I did mine using Word.  You insert a table, and change the size until it's where you want.  Then you can type names in, print, and delete/copy back over the names to print again.  I made the border really light grey so I could cut along the lines.
