XP: Is it still considered tacky to include registry info in a shower invite?

I would have asked this on the Planning and Etiquette board, but I guess it doesn't exist anymore.

I'm working on a shower for a friend and her sister wants to include registry info in the invite. Still a no, right? I've just been getting a lot of invites like this in the past few years.

Shower invites are the only place it is acceptable to include registry info (or a wedding website, if they have one), though some people do even find that distasteful.  However, since the point of a shower is to 'shower' the bride/new mommie/etc with gifts, it is generally considered okay to put the registry info in the invite.

Oh, and the Planning and Etiquette board is now just called Etiquette.

It's okay to put the registry information in the shower invitation. It's not okay to put it in the wedding invitation.

All the showers I've attended had the registry info in the invites. The point of a bridal shower is to shower the bride with gifts so it's not taboo to include the registry info in the invites.

It is however considered very tacky and rude to include registry info in the wedding invites.
