nervous about E-party

My engagement party is this Saturday. I am nervous.  I have no clue what to expect, this is the first E-party I will be attending. I just don't know what I should do. Should me and FI get a gift for the hosts? I don't just a little lost. Also, its suppose to be  backyard party and right now the forecast is for storms throughout the day. Frown Hopefully the rain holds off.

Enjoy and have fun! You will have a great time! We had ours in May and it was great. I would atleast a get a bottle of wine or gift card for the hosts. Or make plans to take them to dinner to thank them.
Once it starts you will be fine. It is great practice for the wedding. We spent the entire time talking to everyone, everyone wanted to know more about our wedding. It was fun to be able to spend the entire day talking wedding! You cant do that all the time. Just make sure you talk to everyone and thank them for coming. Also IF people do bring you gifts you are not suppost to open them at the party. We just put ours in another room and opened them later. You arent required to bring gifts but I found all of our guests did.
As far as the rain, since when do the weather men actually get it right? If it rains oh well, everyone will have a great time anyway. We had tents incase it rained, so maybe your hosts have already thought of that. We went to an enagagement party last year on one of the hottest days of the year, it was so hot and we just wanted ac, but we had a good time anyway. You cant change the rain, and you and your guests will have a great time anyway.
An engagement party is really no different then any other party except you have to talk to everyone and introduce everyone. Make sure your parents meet his family ect. But it isnt hard and it will be great. Let us know how it goes!

I agree with pisha82, it is definitely great practice for your wedding - you definitely need to talk to everyone (work the room, as it were) and thank them for coming.  FI and I greeted each set of guests as they arrived, and after we ate I did one more round of visits at everyone's tables.  Most importantly, have fun!  People are there because they are happy for you.
  • My EPARTY is this saturday too! im very nervous about everything going off without a hitch. I trust my MOH's who are throwing the party just so much to think about!! We are having a backyard party as well and right now the weatherman says sunny and 84, hope it stays that way! Enjoy your party PSYCH!!
