Rehearsal Question

Our rehearsal at our venue has to be on Friday afternoon, and our wedding is on Sunday afternoon. Since it's on a friday there are a few people in the wedding party that won't be able to make it. I am going back and forth from stressing out to thinking that it's not really a big deal.

Have you had people not make your rehearsal? I mean, it's pretty easy stuff, right? You just walk up to the front of a room, then walk back?

I'm just thinking and hoping I'm stressing for no reason. Thoughts?

I think planning a rehearsal for a Friday night for a Sunday wedding is a bit much.  People will have to travel a day early, take another day off work, and then just hang around on Saturday.

I'd have a rehearsal on Saturday at another place.  You don't need to rehearse at the venue - I promise people will understand how it goes even if you rehearse in a restaurant, meeting room or backyard.

But, should you still continue with a Friday rehearsal, people not being there is fine.  Really - weddings aren't hard to figure out.  You walk in, you stand, you walk out.

One of our readers wasn't at the rehearsal and a GM walked in right when the minister said "OK folks, we're all done here."  I was stressed and the GM asking me "what do I?" over and over wasn't helping.  My sister (who he was escorting) gave him the run down.  Looking back, it's not a big deal if people aren't there.  It's all the same.

I am considering a Saturday night at a different venue as well. My only hesitation is that our JP is a friend of ours, and needs a little guidence. I think I can get a couple of people to help me run it, though. We have been to enough weddings at this point to know how it goes...

We had a lot of people that couldn't make it to my friend's rehearsal. It was pretty simple to catch them up when we were all lining up.
