Is 2 weeks before the wedding too close to the wedding to have a bridal shower?

No, definitely not. Showers are typically thrown anytime within a month or two before the wedding. If that's when the host and the bride are available, then go for it.

We did it that way for a friend. No one said it was too close to the wedding.

If you are asking a lot of people to travel in for the wedding, adding an extra gift to there pot may be too much to ask for someone given short notice.
